CISTRAT and CASTED Visits Ethiopia to Join the Six Africa Science, Technology and Innovation Forum

At the invitation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the CISTRAT and CASTED sent a delegation on April 21st to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to participate in the "6th African Science, Technology and Innovation Forum" and exchanged views with delegates.

At the “High-level panel on platforms and solutions for harnessing global knowledge to fast-track the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals”, Li Ruijie introduced the current situation of China's female scientific and technological talent team in recent years, as well as the challenges faced by women in the field of scientific research and innovation. She shared China's policies, practices and achievements in promoting gender equality in scientific research and innovation, and issued an invitation for international cooperation on promoting gender equality in scientific research and innovation.



At the “Panel on leveraging the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development to promote science, technology and innovation in Africa”, Yang Jing analyzed how the international cooperation of the academy of sciences and arts can help achieve the international strategic goals of sustainable development from the three levels of ideas, skills and resources. At the same time, she introduced some of China’s scientific and technological practices in promoting the spirit of scientists as the largest developing country, attaching importance to the integration of science and education, and strengthening scientific and technological innovation.


At the “High-Level Panel on the Year of Education of the African Union: making education the great equalizer”, Tian Nianping introduced the importance of science and technology development in bridging the education gap, and shared China's policy evolution, practical measures and practical results in technology-enabled education and talent development from the perspective of integrated development of education, science and technology, and talents, and discussed with the participating experts the many challenges facing the future realization of education equality.


The Forum was co-organized by UNECA, UNESCO, the African Union and the Government of Ethiopia, etc. It aims to contribute to Africa's achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the Africa's 2063 Agenda through exchanges.
