CISTRAT was visited on May 24 by World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region (WHITRAP), as a following-up event of the 2018 annual meeting of the League of UNESCO Category II Centres in China. The visitors include Dr. Li Xin, Under-Secretary-General of WHITRAP, and Dr. Zhu Lirong, Director of Suzhou Popular Science Promotion Centre. Dr. Wu Yishan, Researcher of CISTRAT, hosted the delegation. The staff members of CISTRAT secretariat attended the meeting.
The meeting was an opportunity for CISTRAT and WHITRAP to understand each other’s major functions, which are focused on research and training of STI policy and cultural heritage respectively. Consensus was reached on the fact that the protection of heritage and innovation of science and technology are closely related, especially for the building of creative cities which involves description of heritage with technical data collection as well as promotion of heritage with creative methods of publicity. It was agreed by both centres that there would be room for cooperation in our future events and that exchanges between different centres would be of much help to expand each other’s cooperation network.
